Bayside South Development Forum

Bayside South Development Forum is a non-profit incorporated association formed to provide regional co-ordination for economic and community development in the the Bayside South area.

The organisation is the result of the coming together in 2001 of the Wynnum and Manly Chambers of Commerce and other key community organisations to develop a strategy to begin to implement the many recommendations made in the local economic development and other studies.

Mission Statement

To develop and support an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable community in the Bayside South region through partnerships which focus on improving and maintaining social and physical infrastructure, local businesses and training and employment opportunities, while protecting and enhancing environmental values.

Organisational Objectives

1. To coordinate community, environmental and economic development activities in the Bayside South region.
2. To provide a united voice for the Bayside South region.
3. To develop and implement community and economic development projects.
4. To lobby and advocate for and on behalf of the Bayside South region.
5. To seek government and private sector resources for the region.
6. To undertake coordinated regional marketing.
7. To develop and support community networks.
8. To undertake any other related activities that may be determined by the management committee from time to time.
9. Assist in developing linkages with relevant local agencies and resources.
10. Participate in strategic planning and related processes.

Organisational Overview

Bayside South Development Forum is a flexible and accountable organisation intended to meet the changing needs of the local community. The principle governing structure of Bayside South Development Forum is a Management Committee comprised of elected committee members. The Management Committee is supported by a reference group comprising government and industry representatives with either an interest in Wynnum Manly or technical expertise in an area relevant to the work of the Bayside South Development Forum. Subcommittees operating beneath the Management Committee are the primary implementation structure of the organisation. Subcommittees may be either ‘fixed’ committees representing a perpetual organisational function such as marketing or finance, or they may be temporary committees created for the duration of a project or to respond to an emerging community issue.

Legal Framework

Bayside South Development Forum is incorporated under the Queensland Association Incorporation Act (1981) and is legally bound by the provisions of this legislation. The day to day operations of the organisation are governed by rules made under this Act.

Membership Fees

A Membership Form is to be completed.

Meetings

Management Committee Meetings are held monthly in the Moreton Meeting Room (Manly Hotel) at 6.00pm. Members wishing to attend one of these meetings are to advise the President first.

Annual General Meeting

An AGM is held in November each year. Nominations from members are invited for Management and Committee Member positions.
